play house

I happened upon this illustration which I had done some time ago. For those of you that are visiting for the first time, then let me explain my fascination with homes. I am full of intrigue for small cottages as well as large estates.

I would love to have a cottage near the ocean or in the woods to play house in.....How about you, which one would you prefer, by the sea or on tucked in the woods?

By the ocean, definitely!!! I did some work in a client's beach home and I almost didn't get anything done because the view was so spectacular, you literally felt like you were in the ocean. I've already picked out my dream cottage on the coast in Ireland or maybe Greece(hmm), okay both, bliss!!!

A cottage by the sea, with a screened-in porch. ::sigh::

Hmmm...could I have both, please? It is too hard to choose.

I share your fascination with cozy homes - small and large. Your work captures their spirit beautifully.

Have a beautiful week~~

I've had he pleasure of living in a house in the woods and it's very nice. So, I'd have to pick by the ocean for a new experience.

can i come play there? that is adorable! i love small and cozy. my parents live out in the country so i get my fulfillment with the woods there, so i guess i'd choose the beach!

your work is so awesome!

Well... I live in the woods, so I guess I would prefer a cottage by the sea. Isn't the grass always greener on the other side? Carla

such a great question... we were in the woods last weekend loving every minute. i asked my boyfriend.. where would you like to live... woods or ocean? he said woods... i said ocean... he likes to swim, kayak and really be in the water... not as easy in the ocean. so we will see... i honestly love them both... but i have to say the ocean breeze, salty air and waves crashing immediately calm me. and that more important than a million dollars to me. xoxo

I'd like one of each please! :)
Though husband and I have looked at places at the beach and most on our coast can't be insured, so I'd go for the cottage in the woods!

I feel the same way you do about houses. One of my favorite things to do, and has been since I was a teen and able to drive, was to drive around neighborhoods and look at houses. Especially at night when houses look all cozy with the lights in the windows! Anyway....I have always wanted a small cottage by the water. I think it would be sooo charming! Enjoy the US Open! Lucky you!

tucked in the woods by a lake would be my perfect escape. I tell my fiance all the time that we need to work hard so we can make that dream a reality someday :)

I live tucked in the woods so I would have to say where I'd always rather be: by the ocean!!

hi patricia,

thanks for leaving the comment about gifting to a friend in need. i think that was the purpose of my post.

since my cottage is in the middle of a botanical park i'm pretty happy with the woods. but i sure would love another at the beach. but that would involve a lottery ticket and i never buy them.

Back in the day....The U.S. Open was in Forest Hills...We were ball girls and total tennis groupies. Tennis players didn't make much money back then, so they were full time club pros as well. I was Chuck McKinley's ball girl to state my age. They gave us free cokes, and we thought that was awesome. Your fans are raving about your art!

I always love your house illustrations. I always thought I was a mountain/woods girl but the more time I spend by the sea the more I need it!
